Rio di Pusteria... shopping and leisure time in a medieval village

    Place: Rio di Pusteria

The market town of Rio di Pusteria (in German: Mühlbach) with its medieval charm is situated in the centre of an ideal holiday destination. Meticulously renovated mansions and well preserved frescoes, as well as ancient family coats of arms tell the history of this town that was first mentioned in a document in the year 1056. Today, modern conveniences and traditions complement each other harmoniously in this town, located on the edge of an old trade route between the Isarco and Pusteria valleys.
Tranquil squares and winding lanes invite visitors to slow down and take a break from modern life, while the busier town centre is perfect for a leisurely stroll. After a shopping excursion in the sunny medieval town one can relax in one of the many cafés with sun terraces. To enjoy your holiday even more, between the end of May and mid October your host can give you the AlmenCard. This card offers free unlimited use of funiculars, cable cars and buses that take visitors up to the Rodengo Alpine pasture (in German: Rodenecker Alm). It also includes access to an eventful side programme.
